NHPTV Hosts 5th Mock Primary Election for Kids
K-12 students in New Hampshire will cast their ballots in the 2016 first-in-the-nation primary tomorrow.

DURHAM, NH - Want to know what New Hampshire kids think about the 2016 presidential election? Well, New Hampshire Public Television is about to find out.
NHPTV is hosting its fifth New Hampshire Primary Mock Election on Feb. 2, inviting more than 20,000 students in grades K-12 from 146 schools and classrooms to vote on the candidate that would like to see be the next president of the United States.
NHPTV began hosting mock elections in 1996, for the general election, and in 2000 for the New Hampshire first-in-the-nation primary. Students from around the state have been researching candidates and learning more about the issues facing our state and the country. Ballot forms and candidate details are available at New Hampshire Public Television’s website (nhptv.org/mockelection).

“The New Hampshire Primary Mock Election is an opportunity for students to learn about the electoral process firsthand,” noted Susan Adams, New Hampshire Public Television’s manager of educational services, in a press statement. “In order to continue this tradition, our children need to understand the vital role New Hampshire plays every four years when it holds the First in the National presidential primary.”
The votes will be tallied all day tomorrow, with regular updates online until the final count comes in. All results will be finalized by 10 p.m. on Feb. 3.
