UPDATE: Ocean Road is Back Open
Portsmouth Police redirected traffic after a gas line break on Jan. 28, 2016.

PORTSMOUTH, NH - At just after 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2016, Portsmouth Police stated that Ocean Road was back open to traffic. It was closed earlier today due to a gas line break.
The break was reported at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2016, Portsmouth Fire and Rescue teams and officers were sent to the area to investigate the matter.
Currently, according to an alert, Ocean Road is closed from Banfield Road to Marriette Drive. Vehicles traveling from Route 33 to Ocean Rd. will be redirected down Banfield Rd. Vehicles traveling from Route One/Lafayette Rd. will be redirected down Mariette Drive and back out Ocean Road to Route 1/Lafayette Road.

Police are asking residents to try to avoid using Ocean Road for the time being. The timetable for the road closures is unknown at post time.
