📰 News we're reading

• City Of Portsmouth Evaluates Stormwater Funding Options (patch.com) — Portsmouth officials are exploring a new Stormwater Enterprise Utility that would base fees on each property's impervious surfaces, aiming to shift costs off homeowners and better match charges to runoff impact. Consultants from Raftelis are updating financial models, developing rate options, and planning public outreach, including surveys, web tools, and potential community meetings, before the City Council decides on any change.

• 1986 triple-fatal arson case in Portsmouth remains unsolved (wmur.com) — Portsmouth residents are being reminded that a deadly 1986 arson at 314 Islington Street, which killed Joseph Poulin, Terry Giles, and later Linda Plummer, remains an unsolved homicide case. Investigators say the fire was intentionally set while crews handled a false alarm elsewhere, and they're asking anyone with information to submit tips to New Hampshire's Cold Case Unit.

• Portsmouth Hiker Dies After Medical Emergency on Mount Major (patch.com) — A 46-year-old Portsmouth man died Sunday after suffering a medical emergency while hiking Mount Major in Alton, despite extensive CPR efforts from fellow hikers, rescuers, and hospital staff. Emergency crews used an off-road vehicle to bring him down the trail and transported him to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, where he was pronounced dead; authorities are withholding his name pending family notification.
