Pedestrian Hit on Route 1 Bypass
Southbound side in Portsmouth was closed for about an hour last night.

A local pedestrian was hit by a box truck last night on the Route 1 Bypass and taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The accident occurred at just before 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, 2015. Troopers from Troop A in Epping responded to the crash after a Portsmouth man, who was walking north on the southbound side, was struck by a truck, being driven by a Rochester man.
“As a result of this collision, (the victim) received serious but non-life threatening injuries and he was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital via ambulance,” according to Sgt. John Hennessey. “The southbound side of the Route 1 Bypass was closed in the area of the crash for approximately one hour as Troopers conducted their investigation and the vehicle was removed from the scene.”

Portsmouth Police, Fire and Rescue, and Troop C troopers all assisted at the scene, according to Hennessey.
