Police Arrest California Man for Shoplifting

The following arrest information was supplied by the Portsmouth Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Thurday, Aug. 18 through Saturday, Aug. 20.

Thursday:

  • At 1:26 p.m., police reported the theft of copper piping from the former Kline's Furniture store construction site on Islington Street.
  • At 3:03 p.m., police arrested a Kittery, Maine, man on Islington Street for motor vehicle offenses. Joshua Cahill, 22, of 19 Government Way, Apt. 1, in Kittery was charged with driving after revocation or suspension and disobeying an officer.
  • At 5:41 p.m., two kids reported that their bicycles were stolen sometime overnight on Sparhawk Street.
  • At 7:48 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man for drunken driving on Islington Street. Allan McCarthy, 34, of 208 Colonial Drive in Portsmouth was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense), and driving while intoxicated.

  • At 12:37 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man for criminal trespass on State Street. Carl A. Patrick, 38, unknown address, Portsmouth was charged with that offense.
  • At 9:38 a.m., police reported a theft from a motor vehicle on White Cedar Boulevard.
  • At 12:51 p.m., police arrested a Kittery, Maine man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Bow Street. Jaroy Alston Leak, 47, of 20 Rudolph Ave. in Kittery was wanted on charges of default or breach of bail conditions, possession of controlled narcotic drugs and stalking.
  • At 3:29 p.m., police reported reckless operation of motor vehicles on Miller Avenue and Middle Street that may have been sparked by a road rage incident. When police arrived on the scene, there were two groups of people arguing with one another, but no arrests were made.
  • At 7:05 p.m., police reported the theft of a Motorola tablet from a motor vehicle on Greenleaf Woods Drive.

Saturday:

  • At 5:37 a.m., police arrested a Dover man as a fugitive from justice on Junkins Avenue. Paul Fontaine, 59, of 665 Central Ave., Apt. A, in Dover was wanted for reckless conduct, placing another in danger.
  • At 11:48 a.m., police reported a theft of keys on Woodbury Avenue.
  • At 12:43 p.m., police reported the theft of a $400 Mongoose bike on Osprey Drive.
  • At 3:50 p.m., police reported a burglary on Jones Avenue of copper fittings and 20 to 30 feet of copper worth $250.
  • At 5:18 p.m., police reported the theft of a bicycle on Lafayette Road that is worth less than $100.
  • At 6:18 p.m., police arrested a California man for shoplifting at a Lafayette Road business. Ian William Carrigan, 20, of 3268 Travis Ave., Simi Valley, Calif., was charged with attempted theft and unlawful possession of alcohol.
  • At 10:16 p.m., police arrested a Dover man for drug offenses on Woodbury Avenue. Kyle Henderson, 18, of 33 Old Madbury Road, Apt. 8, in Dover was charged with possession of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • At 11:55 p.m., police reported a burglary at a Maplewood Avenue residence. The caller told police her home was broken into and some computers were missing.
