Maryland Man Charged With Drug Possession

The following arrest information was supplied by the Portsmouth Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Friday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11.

Friday:

  • At 9:38 a.m., police reported a very large turtle crossing the road at Sagamore Avenue and South Street. At 12:19 a.m., police reported the snapping turtle was in someone's backyard on Sagamore Avenue before they removed him and relocated him to a pond across the road.
  • At 11:42 a.m., police arrested an Eliot, Maine, man for drug offenses on West Road. Jared R. Lehman, 37, of 185 Beech Road, Eliot, Maine, was charged with inhaling toxic vapors for effect.
  • At 1:22 p.m., police reported forged checks on Constitution Avenue.
  • At 9:57 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Blue Heron Drive who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. John Roland Desjardins, 27, of 75 Blue Heron Drive in Portsmouth was wanted for two counts of receiving stolen property.
  • At 10:07 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman on Woodbury Avenue for simple assault. Portia Echo Bick, 21, of 26 Wedgewood Road in Portsmouth was charged with simple assault and receiving stolen property.

  • At 1:03 a.m., police arrested a Maryland man on Wedgewood Road for drug offenses. Levar Stewart T. Decruise, 24, of 10314 SE Pines Drive in Mitchellville, Md., was charged with four counts of possession of controlled/narcotic drugs.
  • At 7:24 a.m., police arrested a man on Islington Street who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. Jamie Alenskis, 48, address unknown, was arrested on a warrant out of Laconia District Court.
  • At 8:26 a.m., police reported the theft of a set of tires from a vehicle on the Spaulding Turnpike Northbound valued at $2,500.
  • At 8:42 a.m., police reported a burglary on Gosling Road where the subjects attempted to break into a vending machine.
  • At 1:17 p.m., police were notified there was a fox inside the lobby of a building on Pearl Street that was acting strangely. New Hampshire Fish and Game officers were called to get the animal out.
  • At 7:19 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Islington Street who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. James E. Jones, 36, of 42 Manor Drive, Apt. A in Portsmouth was charged on a bench warrant.

Sunday:

  • Police responded to two fights. The first occurred at 12:44 a.m. in front of the State Street Saloon and the second was reported at 1:12 a.m. on Market Street where a male was reportedly choking a female. The caller hung up after someone set off a fire alarm.
