Police Investigating Theft of Cast Iron Planters, Lawn Items
Portsmouth Police are asking for tips after numerous theft complaints during the last two weeks in the South Street area.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — The Portsmouth Police Department has taken numerous theft complaints between Dec. 26, 2016, and Jan. 5, 2017, regarding stolen cast iron planters and other various lawn items such as bird baths, and tables and chairs. According to an alert, the majority of these thefts happened on South Street and roads in the immediate area of South Street.
“These items were stolen from yards, with the thefts occurring overnight,” according to Sgt. Dave Keaveny of the Portsmouth Police Department. “Some of the planters were extremely heavy and may have taken two people to lift and/or move.”
