Portsmouth Community Radio is celebrating a true story.

The “True Tales Radio” monthly storytelling program finishes its first year on Dec. 30, station officials said in a press release.

The show airs on WSCA-LP (106.1 FM) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month.

“Broadcast live and before a small in-studio audience, local people have the opportunity to step up to the microphone and tell a true story related to a monthly theme,” officials said.

“During this first year, 52 storytellers stood up, some more than once, for a total of 78 stories shared. Audience attendance was approximately 180 to 200 people over the year, with some dedicated members coming regularly. Themes ranged from ‘Love and Relationships’ to ‘Pets and Pests’ to ‘Masks We Wear.’”
