Portsmouth Neighborhood Committee Prepares For National Night Out
Portsmouth police, firefighters, and others will be visiting 16 different neighborhoods around the city as part of the event on Aug. 2.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Several eighborhoods around Portsmouth will be joining 16,000 communities across the United States to celebrate National Night Out.
In the city, events will be held in 16 neighborhoods from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2. A rain date has been booked for Tuesday, Aug. 9.
National Night Out in Portsmouth will feature outdoor social activities and block parties at the following locations: Spinnaker Point Condominiums (70 Spinnaker Way), South End (Four Tree Island), White Cedar Boulevard (behind Clubhouse), Lafayette Road/West End (Sewall Road Circle), West End (Lovell Street between Cass and Madison Streets), Atlantic Heights (Big Rock Park), Ocean Road area neighborhoods (Fire Station 2), Woodlawn Circle (100 Woodlawn Circle), Islington Creek (Rock Street Park), Wamesit Place (195 Greenleaf Avenue) , Creek Neighborhood (Pine Street Park), Cliff/Walker Bungalow (Cliff Road), Elwyn Park/Woodlands (Dondero School), Gosling Meadows (playground on Wedgewood Road), Wibird (between Lincoln and Hawthorne), and Leslie Drive (332 Leslie Drive).

The committee said the event is family-friendly, with neighborhoods being visited by fire trucks, police cars, SWAT vans, front-end loaders, and other heavy equipment, as well as city staffers who operate the vehicles. Children also have an opportunity to meet McGruff, The Crime Dog, a costumed mascot, and can enjoy his special demonstration.
