Portsmouth Police Log: Crash on Congress Street Leads to DWI Charge

Plus, homeless man arrested on bench warrant after reportedly being found camping under playground equipment.

Edison Shurda, 43, of Center Street in Peabody, MA, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 22, 2015, for driving while intoxicated. Officers were sent to a two-vehicle crash, without injuries, on Congress Street. One of the vehicles was parked, according to the report. After investigating the crash, Shurda was arrested.

Linda Bernier, 64, of Fenwick LP, The Villages, FL, was arrested at 10:18 p.m. on Aug. 22, and charged with driving while intoxicated. Officers were called to State Street. A witness reported issues with the SUV and that the woman was driving but appeared to have switched positions with a passenger, according to a report. Police arrived and spoke with the woman. After a field sobriety test, she was arrested.

Domenic Clements, 27, a homeless man now located in Portsmouth, was arrested at 7:47 a.m. on Aug. 23, on a bench warrant. He was arrested after police allegedly found him camping underneath playground equipment on Rock Street.

Heather A. Bonner, 52, of Green Street in Somersworth, was arrested at 6:36 p.m. on Aug. 23, on a bench warrant. She was arrested on Market Street after a traffic stop.
