Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra Kicks Off 2015/2016 Season

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce the commencement of the 2015/2016 season. Season starts November 15th at Music Hall

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is excited to announce the commencement of the 2015/2016 season with a wonderful selection of works featuring Strauss, Glazunov, and Schumann on Sunday, November 15th at 3 P.M. at The Portsmouth Music Hall in beautiful, downtown Portsmouth, NH.

Founded in 1997, The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra is comprised of over 65 local professionals, educators, dedicated amateurs, and advanced students, with the mission of contributing high quality symphonic music to the Seacoast community.

“We’re excited for the upcoming season and are really looking forward to kicking things off,” said PSO’s Music Director, John Page. “We’ve had some time off, but we’re back to work, and are looking forward to a brand new season and to reconnect with fans old and new at the performances.”

This year’s list of events include crowd favorites, such as the annual Holiday Pops, and some new ventures for the PSO, including the group’s first ever operatic performance. In addition, this year will also include two performances by local emerging talent, as part of the PSO’s Youth Artist Competition.

“Family Holiday Pops” Sunday, December 20th at 3 P.M. at the Coop Middle School in Stratham, NH with a second showing Tuesday, December 22nd at 7:30 PM at The Portsmouth Music Hall.

“A Night at The Opera” – The first ever operatic performance by the PSO, featuring selections from Bizet’s Carmen and Britten’s Peter Grimes – Sunday, March 20th at 3 P.M. at The Portsmouth Music Hall.

“Sibelius Symphony No. 5” with a guest appearance by the Youth Concerto Contest winner, Sunday, June 5th at 3 P.M. at The Portsmouth Music Hall.
