Boston MedFlight is a nonprofit organization providing the highest level of critical care transport by air and ground to patients in need—regardless of their circumstances. For more than 40 years, since our founding in 1985, we have set the standard for clinical excellence, safety, and compassion in the air medical industry. Our tagline, “Your Life. Whether responding to an emergency scene or transferring a critically ill patient between hospitals, our team delivers seamless, patient-centered care during some of the most challenging moments in a person’s life. As a nonprofit, we are guided by one unwavering principle: every patient deserves access to lifesaving care, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Each year, Boston MedFlight provides more than $7 million in free and unreimbursed care, ensuring no patient is ever turned away. Our clinical teams are among the most highly trained and experienced in the world, caring for patients of all ages—from premature infants to older adults—across a wide range of conditions. These include adult and pediatric trauma, complex medical emergencies, cardiac and stroke events, high-risk obstetric and neonatal care, and specialized interfacility transfers. We achieve this excellence through rigorous training and preparedness. Every clinician completes an intensive onboarding and education program that includes hospital ICU and emergency department rotations, pediatric and neonatal critical care experience, high-fidelity simulation training, advanced procedural labs, and comprehensive classroom instruction in transport medicine. Our work is supported by a state-of-the-art fleet of Airbus H145 helicopters and Freightliner mobile ICU ground vehicles, each equipped with advanced technology comparable to leading hospital ICUs.

Dr. Akhil Sastry, MD of Atlantic Orthopaedics &amp; Sports Medicine, was invited to speak at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgery in March, according to a press statement. The prestigious event, at the Venetian/Sands EXPO Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, was the largest meeting of orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals in the world.Attendance for the AAOS conference exceeds 10,000 members from numerous countries, who share the latest information on orthopaedic treatments, advances, and research. A panel selects presenters at all levels of practice, inviting those chosen with the honor of speaking at the event.Sastry is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery. One of the few surgeons to be trained in Direct Anterior Hip Replacement Surgery, he was the first to perform this procedure in the seacoast through a minimally invasive muscle sparing approach.
