State Police Investigating Police Cruiser Crash In Portsmouth

State troopers are investigating why a police cruiser and another vehicle collided on the Route 1 Bypass and Greenleaf Avenue Thursday.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Portsmouth police officer injured his shoulder during a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of the Route 1 Bypass and Greenleaf Avenue in Portsmouth Thursday. Around 12:45 p.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to the collision to investigate how a 2017 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, being driven by a 39-year-old officer, collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, being driven by a 36-year-old man. At the time of the crash, the officer had his vehicle's emergency lights and siren activated, and was heading to the scene of a disorderly conduct-road rage incident, according to Lt. John Hennessy of Troop A.

After the crash, the officer was injured and taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The other driver was not injured.

According to Rockingham Alerts, the officer injured his shoulder during the crash.
