Strafford Woman Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge: Cop Log

ATV crash on Franklin Drive; woman screaming for help reported on Islington Street; and parenting techniques argument reported on Congress.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Shanandoah Griffin, 40, of Piper Drive in Strafford, was arrested at 12:28 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2019, on a domestic violence-simple assault charge. Police in the area of Market Street and Woodbury Avenue spoke to two people about a possible domestic incident. The woman was taken into custody while the man checked into a Motel 6.

Todd Douglas Ball, 56, unknown address, was arrested on a bench warrant at 9:43 p.m. on Sept. 21. Officers at the intersection of Market and Russell streets were off with a man and while speaking with him, were told he had an active warrant. He was then arrested.

12:54 a.m. on Sept. 22: Officers were sent to State Street for a report of a loud party and a bonfire in the backyard of a home. The residents said they would turn it down for the night.

12:43 a.m. on Sept. 22: A hotel employee on Portwalk Place reported a man with a bloody face removed a cigarette stanchion and started heading down the street with it, possibly heading back downtown. A description was given. The hotel employee said they didn't want to press charges but wanted the stanchion back. It was returned later.

11:09 on Sept. 21: Police were sent to the hospital for a report of a man in the emergency room with an IEA (involuntary emergency admission) out of Greenland. The man was combative and throwing chairs. When police arrived, he was passed out and under control.

10:27 on Sept. 21: A bar employee was found passed out between Top Claw Lobster and Bennett Sandwich. He was assisted by other employees.

9:40 p.m. on Sept. 21: A man fell off a bicycle on Ewyn Road.

8:25 p.m. on Sept. 21: A man in a pickup truck on Islington Street reported to police that a woman, crying and screaming, jumped into his truck, asking for help. She left his truck and fled the scene. No one appeared to be following her, the man told police. Officers searched the area but didn't find the woman.

8:10 p.m. on Sept. 21: An officer was flagged down on Congress Street due to a verbal argument over parenting techniques.

5:17 on Sept. 21: A woman turned in a lost wallet she found on Congress Street.

3:30 p.m. on Sept. 21: Fire and rescue teams as well as police were sent to Franklin Drive for an ATV accident with an elderly man and a child.
