Skunk's Odd Behavior Prompts Call to Police

Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Monday, July 23:

Monday:

At 6:29 a.m., police received a report from a Wedgewood Road resident of a skunk that was acting strangely in the area of the basketball courts. The caller reported the animal was walking in circles and erratically. The skunk apparently had a cup on its head, which a maintenance worker was able to remove.

At 8:22 a.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run accident at the traffic circle. There were no injuries, and only minor damage. The suspect vehicle was a gray truck.

At 11:08 a.m., Mesfen A. Rowell, 23, of 63 Robert Ave., #2, Portsmouth, was arrested on a bench warrant.

At 2:12 p.m., police received a report of a dog that was left in a hot car for 15 minutes, with the windows hardly open. Police responded, and found a man sitting in the vehicle with his dog.

At 8:50 p.m., Muluken Robert Rowell, 19, unknown street address, Portsmouth, was arrested on a bench warrant.
