Summer In The Street Runs Through July In Portsmouth
Pro Portsmouth's concert series, in its 19th year, will offer five concerts on Pleasant Street.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Looking to take in some music this summer while enjoying the city?
Pro Portsmouth’s Summer in the Street might be just that opportunity.
During five evenings in July, Pleasant Street will be closed to traffic from Porter Street to Market Square while performers entertain in a pedestrian-friendly environment. The street will be closed from 4 to 9:30 p.m. The performances take place, weather permitting, between 5:30 and 9 p.m. The concerts are free but donations are being accepted online here.

The series kicks off with The Seacoast Wind Ensemble on July 2 followed by Jeff Warner on July 9, Vital Tones on July 16, TJ Wheeler & Friends on July 23, and an encore performance with The Seacoast Wind Ensemble on July 30.
Barbara Massar of Pro Portsmouth said the concert series originally started as a pilot program in 2003 in an effort to identify closed street events. While pedestrians are encouraged to mingle, attendees are also invited to bring chairs, food, and beverages, sans the alcohol though.
