Thousands Being Raised for State Street Saloon Employees, Residents

A GoFundMe Site, with a goal of $25,000, has been set up for the victims of the April 10, fire in Portsmouth.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A GoFundMe.com effort has been launched to help raise money for the victims of a 6-alarm fire this morning in Portsmouth that left tenants homeless and three buildings – including a popular local eatery – destroyed.

The fire was reported at around 1 a.m. on April 10, 2017, and quickly went to multiple alarms, sending in mutual aid teams from around the region – including more than 40 departments – according to posts online. The American Red Cross is also assisting tenants of the building which is a total loss.

The State Street Saloon, a local sports bar and grill established in 1983, was destroyed.

A goal of $25,000 has been put forward. Nearly $4,000 had been raised at post time.

According to the organizer, money raised will be distributed to people in need who have been affected by the fire and also will help employees of the Portsmouth businesses affected by the fire.

"If there is anything left, it will be donated to the Portsmouth Fire Department," the organizer noted.
