Toll Taker Injured After Garbage Truck Door Crashes Into Booth
NHSP: A Waste Management truck reportedly struck a Spaulding Turnpike tollbooth this morning. An elderly woman was sent to the hospital.

ROCHESTER, NH — An elderly toll taker was injured this morning after a garbage truck door crashed into the tollbooth she was working in this morning. According to the New Hampshire State Police, troopers were sent to the Spaulding Turnpike in Rochester at around 6:45 a.m. on March 22, 2018, for a report of a crash. When they arrived, investigators found that a Waste Management garbage truck door had crashed into a tollbooth on the southbound side of the highway.
“(An) on scene investigation revealed that the side loading door was left open, and as the truck traveled through lane #1, the door struck the booth,” according to Lt. John Hennessey of Troop A.
The truck driver – a 29-year-old man from Lebanon, ME, was not injured; the toll attendant – a 77-year-old woman from Rochester – was transported to Frisbee Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

Hennessey noted that Lane 1 of the toll plaza will be closed indefinitely until repairs can be made.
Rochester Fire and Rescue teams and NH DOT assisted at the scene.
