Tuscan Kitchen & Market Breaks Ground in Portsmouth

Third location of restaurant and market concept to be largest yet. Company also partners with Cross Roads House.

PORTSMOUTH, NH - Tuscan Brands founder Joe Faro hosted the official groundbreaking ceremony on Dec. 9, 2015, for his third location of Tuscan Kitchen & Market in Portsmouth.

The authentic Italian restaurant and marketplace concept, which opened its first location in Salem in 2010 and a second outpost in Burlington, MA, in 2014, will be located at 581 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth.

The nearly 17,000-square foot space will feature a full-size restaurant and market serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, along with a seasonal patio and outdoor piazza with traditional Italian pergola for special events, according to a press statement. When Tuscan Kitchen & Market Portsmouth opens in the Fall of 2016, the operation will employ 150 people from the Seacoast.

Prior to the groundbreaking, Joe Faro and wife Samantha visited Cross Roads House, a homeless and transitional services shelter across the street from the Portsmouth location of Tuscan Kitchen. The Faro’s donation of 150 loaves of Tuscan Market ciabatta marked the beginning of a partnership between Tuscan Brands and Cross Roads, as community outreach and philanthropy are a large part of the Tuscan Brands culture.

Since opening in 2010, Tuscan Brands has earned local and national recognition for its scratch made food made with quality ingredients using time-honored techniques. Joe Faro founded Tuscan Brands in 2010 following the sale of his handmade pasta company, Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta and Sauces, to Nestle Foods.
