Portsmouth Students Return to School [VIDEO]
Students returned to class for the first day of school at Portsmouth's three elementary schools, Portsmouth Middle School and Portsmouth High School this morning.
Whether they came by school bus, on foot or were dropped off by their parents, more than 500 Portsmouth children made it to their first day of classes this morning at Little Harbour School.
Some students were attending Little Harbour School for the first time if they were among the 36 students who transferred from the Dondero School earlier this summer. Others were just happy to meet their new teachers and hang out with their friends.
Little Harbour School Principal Charles Grossman said the first day at his school went well and that his staff was ready. He hired six paraprofessionals to accomodate the influx of the new students, bringing the school's total enrollment to 512.

Portsmouth Schools will also be served by a new bus company this year, McDonough said. Student Transportation of America in Goffstown will ferry students to and from school this year. The Portsmouth School Department has published a complete list of school bus routes on its website.
Portsmouth Middle School students will return to class as continues right behind them. They will be the second to last group of students who attend the current school.
The new Portsmouth Middle School is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
At Portsmouth High, McDonough said the school will be undergoing the reaccreditation process administered by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
