Rochester Fire Department: neighbors alerted residents to Plante Street fire (straffordnews.com) — A recent early‑morning fire on Plante Street in Rochester left two residents displaced but alive thanks to quick‑thinking neighbors who woke them when smoke alarms failed. Firefighters contained the blaze, though a pet cat died, and investigators say oxygen cylinders on the porch intensified the fire. The fire chief is urging all Rochester households to test alarms and ensure they’re audible from bedrooms.
