Advisories Issued Ahead of Dangerous Heat
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the area by the National Weather Service, as high temperatures may approach 100 degrees.
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Afternoon temperatures will rise into the 95 to 100 degree range throughout the area. These hot temperatures combined with high humidity will make it feel like in between 100 and 103 at times throughout the afternoon.
It will be just as hot at the beaches due to a landbreeze. The only relief at the beach will be in the water, which is mainly around 60 degrees.
Prolonged exposure to the heat could cause serious health problems.

It is advised that you:
- Avoid strenuous activity and exercise outdoors between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Seek air conditioning if possible.
- Stay out of the sun, and if you are going to be in the sun, find shade and use sunscreen.
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. I recommend Gatorade as well.
- Wear light-colored, light-weight, and loose-fitting clothing.
- Check in on relatives and neighbors, particularly the elderly.
Another hot day is expected Thursday with temperatures once again in the 95 to 100 degree range. By Friday, temperatures will still be hot, but not quite as extreme with highs in the lower 90s.
