Another Nonbinding Referendum on Gaming in Salem
Citizen's vote on expanded gaming Vs Salem's State Rep's votes and what should the gaming supporters do now.

As most of you know there’s been a few of these over the years always ending with the voting population being in favor of Expanding Gaming here in Salem. This year over 80% of the ballots cast were in favor of Expanding Gaming. So What now?
On to the NH Senate and House. The expanded Gaming bill passed easily in the NH Senate today.
All of Salem will now be watching very closely not only on how the NH House votes as a whole but more importantly how our 9 State Reps will vote. One would think this is a no brainer after Tuesday’s results but the problem is all of our State Reps aren’t in favor of expanded gaming at all. It’s believed that currently there’s 5 in favor and 4 against.

I’m sure those Reps against it can list a number of reason why they’re not going to support this bill. The possibilities will range anywhere from they don’t like the wording, not enough guarantees, gaming goes against their morals/principals, it’s against the parties platform… the list goes could go on and on.
What should Salem residents do from here? Now’s not the time to just sit back and watch.

Start writing letters to our State Reps, to the editors, call them, email them, talk to our State Reps. Let them know you demand that they vote according to the results of Tuesday’s election. You could get a bunch of supporters together, grab a couple of casino now signs and hold a sign waving event in front of their houses. Remember you voted them onto office to represent you, your wishes and the Town of Salem’s best interest not their own personal morals/principals, needs or wishes.
