Bettencourt: Second Wave of Sponsorship of 'Pro Economic' Initiatives

The four-term member of the N.H. House, will sponsor almost 50 pieces of legislation this session.

House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-North Salem) today released legislation a second wave of legislation that he will sponsor during the upcoming 2012 legislative session. The initiatives again focus squarely on the important issues currently facing the State of New Hampshire. The four-term member of the N.H. House, will sponsor almost 50 pieces of legislation this session.

"The pro-growth, pro-economic initiatives that I have chosen to sponsor are indicative of the focus of my Republican colleagues as a whole. Ensuring that every Granite Stater who is looking for a job finds one in our economy remains our absolute first priority.

"Additionally, reforming state government, appreciating our veterans, and preserving our heritage are also among our top priorities in 2012," said Rep. Bettencourt.

Job Creation and Tax Reform:

- 2012-H-2566-R: relative to underpayment of estimated taxes and equalization of valuations administered by the department of revenue administration.

- 2012-H-2568-R: establishing a committee to study administration of the business profits tax and the business enterprise tax.

- 2012-S-2851-R: relative to limited liability companies.

- 2012-S-2866-R: relative to property taxation of certain manufactured housing.

- 2012-S-2869-R: relative to notice requirements and payment of interest by the department of revenue administration for overpayments and underpayments of tax.

- 2012-S-2871-R: increasing the research and development tax credit against the business profits tax.

- 2012-S-2876-R: establishing a defined contribution retirement plan for public employees.

Government Reform:

- 2012-H-2796-R: relative to prior legislative approval for the expenditure of funds for low carbon fuel standards programs.

- 2012-H-2801-R clarifying the liability of landowners, lessees, and occupants of premises who allow other persons to use the premises for hunting, fishing, and other recreational purposes or to remove fuel wood.

- 2012-S-2839-R: relative to confidential prescription data.

New Hampshire Heritage:

- 2012-H-2072-R: establishing a New Hampshire state register of historic places.

- 2012-H-2206-R: relative to display of certain historical items in the state house.

- 2012-S-2837-R: regarding the White Mountain National Forest.

- 2012-S-2867-R: allowing the department of resources and economic development to cut vegetation in shoreland areas where public safety is of concern.

Veterans:

- 2012-H-2281-R: declaring March 30 as Welcome Home Veterans Day to honor veterans of Vietnam.

- 2012-H-2509-R: naming a bridge in Pelham in honor of Sergeant Daniel R. Gionet.

- 2012-S-2925-R: expanding eligibility for free admission to the state park system to certain members and their families and retired members of the armed forces.

“The people of this state sent us to Concord to address the serious issues facing New Hampshire and unlike in Washington we are and will continue to deliver results,” said Bettencourt.
