Earth Day is Everyday!
What are you doing for Earth Day this year? Come by and celebrate with us!

The world as we know it is changing! People are starting to catch on!There is only one Earth, with limited resources.
As the self-proclaimed “owners” of these resources (the human race that is) it is our duty to protect the Earth and her resources for generations to come.
This is why back in 1962 Sen. Gaylord Nelson got the ball rolling and through a period of several years, defined and promoted the idea of creating a national celebration of our Earth.

On April 22, 1970 he coordinated a “teach-in” that would become the nation's first-ever official Earth Day celebration. Senator Nelson was not alone! There were many others doing exactly the same thing around the same time to promote Earth awareness. April 22 was officially chosen as the nations Earth Day by the U.S. government in 1970. In 2009, the United Nations proclaimed April 22 to be “International Mother Earth Day“.
Throughout the years many people have participated in Earth Day events throughout the world. Here in the U.S., many communities coordinate park cleanups, tree plantings and hold seminars and expos with an Earth-friendly theme around this time.

The bottom line is that our Earth’s resources are finite and precious and we cannot afford to waste them.
What are YOU doing this year to celebrate Earth Day? Maybe you have already participated in a local park cleanup, green fair or attended a seminar on how to make your home more eco-friendly. There are many events going on this weekend in a number of New Hampshire communities.
In Salem, we are holding our first ever Greater Salem Earth Day Event on Sunday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a wide variety of vendors on hand with information and products that make going green an easy reality. This is a free event.
Come by and hear about how much money you can save in your home with an energy audit. Have old computers laying around that you haven’t figured out what to do with yet? A not-for-profit will be there to take them off your hands for free! They will recycle and reuse them for people who cannot afford a computer. Oh baby! Do we have diapers! A lawn care vendor will be there showing off their latest and greatest eco-friendly lawn care system. The Salem Farmers Market will also be with us at this event! All the regular vendors from the market will be on hand. All this and so much more!
Rain or shine, this event is being held at the Salem High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Did I mention that this is a free event?
Celebrate Earth Day this year! Come by for an hour or the whole day. Come see how easy it is to be green. Help protect Mother Earth and all her resources (including us!) for generations to come. Remember that April 22 may be the official day, but EVERYDAY is Earth Day!
