Extreme Heat Likely By Mid-Week

After a cool stretch of weather, temperatures may near the century mark by mid-week. Ryan Breton from AtkinsonWeather.com has the forecast.

Are you ready for the heat?

An area of high pressure that has been located over southern Canada has been responsible for the cool, easterly breeze in New England the past several days.

That same high will reposition itself off of the eastern seaboard during the course of the week, becoming a "Bermuda High", sending heat and humidity our way.

Temperatures will be warming through the course of the week. After only being near 70 today, we will rise to around 80 tomorrow, and into the 90s for the middle part of the week. 100 degrees is possible on either Wednesday or Thursday!

Temperatures on Friday are a bit in question, though 90 is still possible. If we achieve 90 degrees or better for a third day Friday, this will officially qualify as a "heat wave".

Along with the heat, the humidity will be increasing through the course of the week. After exceptionally dry air for this time of year over the weekend, the humidity will near oppressive levels by Wednesday.
