Frankie Linehan Scholarship

My family awards a $1,000 scholarship for kids studying in a non-professional field such as a trade or early childhood teaching. I construe the vocation very broadly.

My family awards a scholarship of $1,000 for Salem High School seniors going into some sort of non-professional vocation.  I construe that very broadly.  Upon satisfactory completion of the first semester, the winning student would receive $1,000.  Also if they need it, and complete the second semester satisfactorily they can ask for another $1,000 for the third semester.

Interested students can get an application from the Salem High School Guidance Department.  I would prefer to have the students e-mail me the completed application and transcript.  The instructions are on the application.  Filling out the application well and using electronic media are part of the application.

My late father, George Linehan, set up this scholarship in memory of my late brother for whom it is named.  About 30 years ago my parents asked me to take over awarding this scholarship because it was overwhelming them.

I usually conduct interviews via email so as not to interrupt the school day.  The deadline is May 1, 2012.
