Learn Where the Candidates Stand on Health Care
sThe race for Governor of New Hampshire is wide open. At this time, we have many candidates to choose from, and we should make sure all the candidates know where we stand on health care issues, including issues affecting those with chronic diseases such as cancer.
As a cancer patient, I know first-hand how important the decisions of elected officials can be to people with cancer and their families. That’s why I’m asking everyone to make the Gubernatorial candidates aware of the impact that issues pertaining to cancer have in our state.
I was pleased to recently attend a health care forum at Saint Anselm College, sponsored by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The Gubernatorial candidates were asked to publically state their positions on health care issues, including comprehensive tobacco control policies, access to care, and state funding of cancer treatment and prevention programs.
I hope our new Governor, whichever candidate is eventually elected, will include tobacco control in his or her budget proposal, protect important prevention programs like the Let No Woman Be Overlooked Program, and ensure that Granite Staters have access to timely, quality and affordable health care.
