Let's Work Together, New Hampshire

Two choices for New Hampshire just is not enough

It is very unfortunate to realize that our country divides political beliefs into several easy to realize categories, all in order to make the process easier.  We have names such as liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat, and others that all they do is label.  With these labels, a vast majority of people vote on party lines, they vote for someone who they can easily sum up into one worded sentences in order to shorten the thinking process.  Voters fail to take in a candidate’s full worth once they see a party associated with them.

And politicians are very much to blame for that.

Simply look at the legislative bodies that run this country and state.  At the state level, we as citizens of New Hampshire go through the process of electing 400 Representatives and 22 Senators.  What is the result? The Republicans and the Democrats, for the most part, vote along party lines.  Where is the individuality?  Have we become a society so addicted to conformity, so addicted to “easy” solutions for our problems, that our elected officials only see two ways to a problem?

This is not a problem specified at one party or certain politicians.  This is a problem that exists across the spectrum, and must be eradicated in order to restore sanity to government.  Whether you believe in big government or small, you must see that our system is broken.  However, it is a system that can easily be fixed and repaired for the betterment of the people of New Hampshire.

There is another problem presented by our elected officials across the board.  Those elected into a super majority seem to neglect what the other side of the aisle has to say, and this is the biggest threat to the stability of our Republic.  All 400 people are elected, and regardless of who is in the majority and who is in the minority, legislation should be passed that has support from both sides of the aisle, and without that, our state speeds closer and closer towards division.

It is time to reign in the political extremes of both sides of our Government, and it is time for citizens to elect Representatives that will represent the views of their constituents, all of them, and not the views of their state wide party. Representatives need to give the voice to the people, not party bosses.

To sum it up, New Hampshire is too grand a State to be divided by partisan politics.  We need cooperation, and we need to elect leaders who care deeply about cooperating.  Our Government officials should not cooperate and extend their hands to other side when it is politically beneficial or necessary; they should do it every time because it is the right thing to do for our State.
