Medicare Supplement Advantage Plan: One Day It's Here Now It's Gone

New Hampshire Medicare Advantage Plan in Rockingham and Hillsborough County..Gone!

Were you one of the clients in New Hampshire who lost their Medicare Advantage Plan? 2,500 seniors (including my husband) in Rockingham and Hillsborough County were recently dropped by insurance companies like Humana or Secure Horizons offering the New Hampshire Advantage Plan as a supplement plan to their Medicare.

For many this was a way to afford a Medicare supplement plan which also included their Part D (drug plan). This was a plan which allowed them an open network of doctors and hospitals with an average monthly cost of $42-$86 per month for both with just a co pay at the doctors office. Certainly helped those middle class seniors who did not qualify for medicaid. Not sure of the reason and when I try to research for one, no news article written for this disaster. Not important enough? Well it is.

Many will now have to pay a minimum of $150 (depending on the plan, how much coverage they need, the amount of the deductable and what drugs they are currently taking) for both a Medicare supplement plan to cover the 20 percent Medicare does not pay and the Part D Plan to cover a percentage of their drug costs.

Once again power and money rule our nation. These large insurance companies who obviously did not make enough from this plan just dropped it and had no concern on the effects of its clients. Many seniors who have worked hard all their lives contributing to their Social Security now trying to have some quality of life being forced to chose between their health care or food on their table. Is this the America Dream?
