When I decided to start the SNAP Challenge, I settled on the marker of $4 a day. As I was preparing to take the challenge for 5 days, I knew I had a $20 budget. I managed to get a dozen eggs, a jar of peanut butter, a loaf of bread, 10 ounces of ham, a pound of cheese, and a container of bologna for $15.14. I have $4.86 left with every meal planned for next 4 days.
I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch today, and I had a bologna, cheese, and ham sandwich and a scrambled egg for dinner. Starting tomorrow morning I'll have an egg for breakfast, and then continue with a varying combination of the same food.
I plan on ending the challenge Friday afternoon, and I will likely take it up again throughout the summer. Please consider joining me in the #SNAPChallenge to raise awareness for hunger and rampant unemployment plaguing our country.
