NH Pet Saves - Help Us Help Them!

New Hampshire Pet Save and Salem Animal Rescue League, an exciting first!

In early 2012 a dozen NH Animal Shelters began talking about the possibility of a joint fundraising venture.  Fast forward, March 2013, we are hours away from the kick-off of this first time event!  March 21st & 22nd are the big "push" days for this effort, although donations can be made for several weeks after. What is this all about?  These  shelters, of which Salem Animal Rescue League is one, combined,  rescue and re-home over 18,000 animals in New Hampshire yearly.   Aside from their primary mission the shelters provide support to their local communities by hosting spay/neuter, wellness and rabies clinics, education and emergency support through other important programs.  Because of their 100% spay/neuter policies huge strides have been made in  keeping the  overpopulation of unwanted cats and dogs in the state to a new low. This is the first time in New Hampshire's history  that a group of non-profits have banded together to create awareness of what they do and how important they are to the community. Last week all met on the steps of the State House for a press conference with Governor Hassan who is herself a huge animal lover and a "shelter dog" adopter. She declared the week of March 17th to the 23rd, New Hampshire Pet Save's Homeless Pet Awareness Week.

Salem Animal Rescue League has been a part of the local area history for over 20 years.  SARL rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes over 1,000. cats and dogs per year.  They do this through private donations only and pride themselves on going the extra mile for harder to adopt animals due to age, medical condition or breed type.

Sadie a six year old beagle made her way to SARL because her family could no longer care for her.  It was soon found  that Sadie had more problems than just being 25 pounds overweight.  She had a thyroid condition along with a seizure and anxiety disorder.  After 8 months at SARL, 7 in a loving foster home, and many hours of medical attention, she was adopted to a most wonderful home. Her new family cannot imagine life without her .Looch, a stray cat found nearly frozen to death during a snow storm made his way to SARL.  His bones were jutting out at all angles, he was declawed and therefore unable to feed or protect himself.  Looch is about 12 years of age and ready to go home with his best friend that he met at SARL, Finnian, another senior cat of similar circumstances. These are just a couple of the wonderful and heartwarming stories.

Please, Help Us Help Them!   Housing, food, medical care, including surgeries in many instances, are all very expensive. We rely on the generosity of individuals and companies. We take no state or federal funding.  Join in, become another one of our supporters by contributing to SARL through NH Pet Saves.
