About Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network
Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network was established in 1984 by a group of physicians who saw the need to provide access to comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services in Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley.
The leader of that effort, Howard Gardner, MD, was an Army Neurosurgeon who had seen, first hand, the benefits rehabilitation was offering wounded soldiers. Returning to the Merrimack Valley and establishing a neuroscience practice, New England Neurological Associates, Dr. Gardner and his associates set out to build the first free standing Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in New Hampshire.
Since opening our flagship location in Salem, NH in 1984, the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network has expanded to include rehabilitation hospitals in Nashua and Portsmouth, NH, over 20 outpatient centers, a home care division, a sports medicine division, an outpatient pediatric division and many clinics and specialty services aimed at helping those in need of rehabilitation.
For 30 years, patients in the Merrimack Valley have relied on the doctors, therapists and nurses of Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network to provide expert care for brain injuries, strokes and many neurological and orthopedic conditions. This local expertise allows patients to receive treatment locally, close to the support needed from family and friends during their recovery.
