The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
Anyone can participate in Relay For Life. Friends, families, neighbors, classmates, sports teams, etc., can form their own teams. No matter who you are, there's a place for you at Relay. And thanks to Relay participants, we are creating a world with more birthdays where cancer can’t claim another year of anyone’s life.
This year, Relay for Life of Salem wants to pack the track with relayers. How can one more person make a difference?

Well just check out these statistics. If each team in New England recruits:
- just one more member who raises $100, that’s an additional $1.25 million that will be used to fund groundbreaking research, deliver lifesaving information, and provide support and services to cancer patients and their families.
- two more members per team would generate an additional $2.5 million
- three more members would yield an amazing $3.75 million to support the American Cancer Society and the cancer patients who turn to them every day
