Charlie Appelstein to be Honored at April 21 Event
Salem Family Resources, will honor nationally recognized child development expert, trainer and author Charlie Appelstein as its 2013 Children’s Champion.
The award will be presented at the group’s annual Family Fashion Show & Auction Sunday, April 21, 1-3 pm at the historic Searles Castle in Windham.

The award is given each year to a local resident for significant work to improve outcomes for children in the greater Salem area. Appelstein has worked in child welfare for over 25 years. As president of Appelstein Training Resources, LLC, he provides original, strength-based training, consultation, and youth care literature to individuals and groups seeking to better understand and respond to troubled children and youth. Appelstein works primarily with residential and foster care programs; children's and adolescent psychiatric facilities; public, private, and special education schools; parent groups; and detention centers.
Appelstein has been a frequent and popular speaker at workshops and events sponsored by Salem Family Resources over the last 15 years on effective parenting.

“Anyone who has been fortunate and wise enough to attend one of Charlie's presentations knows that his wisdom, guidance and parenting strategies are based in ‘the golden rule:’ respect for children and adults alike,” said Cindy Jury, executive director of Salem Family Resources. “We are so pleased to be able to honor him and recognize his work to strengthen families all over the country, especially here in Greater Salem.”
