Summer Music: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem
This affordable 8 week summer music program is available to students in grades 1-12.
Among its many exciting activities, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem is
offering a summer music program. This program was inspired this past winter around the idea of making music affordable and accessible to anyone who is willing to learn. And over time, college students also pursuing music, David Harris, Kevin O’Neil, and Davis Sprague joined me on the list of instructors.
The music program consists of weekly private lessons and ensemble rehearsals available for students in grades 1-12. Private lessons are offered for flute, piano (for beginners), saxophone, trumpet, French horn, guitar, bass, and trombone. Ensembles are available to all woodwind and brass instruments. These include
duets, trios, quartets, quintets, flute choir, jazz combos, and more! These
will develop your child’s confidence, independence, and musicianship. Please
note that the availability of these ensembles depend on the instrumentation and
level of all students participating.
The program begins Monday, June 24 and ends with a concert on Friday, August 9. All lessons and rehearsals will take place at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater
Salem in the Music Room, located in the Teen Center. They will be scheduled
Monday – Friday 9am-6pm, although extended times may be available. All lessons are $15 per 30 minutes and students participating in ensembles pay a flat rate of $64 for the entire eight weeks.

All students participating must be a member of the Boys and Girls Club, though they do not need to be registered for summer camp. Students who are members and attending summer camp will be scheduled around their field trips.
The Boys and Girls Club is truly a “positive place for kids” in that they provide so
many opportunities for children to learn and grow. For more information or to
