Coalition: Beware of Outside Groups Posing as the Tea Party from NH

New Hampshire Tea Party Coalition chastised national effort to elect Scott Brown to the Senate in the Granite State.

A national Republican political action committee working door-to-door to get Scott Brown elected to the U.S. Senate has come under fire from local tea party activists for false advertising.

The NH Tea Party Coalition sent out a press release this week denouncing the effort by a group called Tea Party Patriots working on the ground in the Granite State to help Brown.

The coalition stated that patriot group was “not a legitimate tea party” org but a Republican political action committee created by “GOP fundraiser gurus and consultants” to co-opt the movement and extract money from “unsuspecting conservatives who have no idea that most of the money goes for office overhead and the salaries of the GOP operatives who run the group.”

The coalition stated that here in New Hampshire, tea party activists and their org “focuses on issues and will never run, fund or endorse candidates.” The coalition is the only NH group that supports the original mission of the tea party movement, the org claimed.

“Groups such as Tea Party Patriots, Tea Party Express, and others, do not have any organization in New Hampshire,” the statement said. “But it did not take long for a misleading article to appear in THE HILL, a DC online newspaper, claiming that tea party members in NH had suddenly ‘fallen in line.’ Tea party members understood when they joined the NHTPC that it is NOT part of the GOP or any other political party.”

The coalition warned the voters who said door cards saying that the tea party was backing Brown should “be wary of these well-funded operatives who come from outside New Hampshire.”
