Connecticut Woman Dies in Crash Off Route 113

Breaking: Others injured, one critical, in Methuen crash involving Peabody driver; police allege "alcohol does appear to be a factor."

METHUEN, MA — Three people were injured, one fatally and another critically, in an early morning crash on Milk Street in Methuen, MA, according to police. Officers and fire and rescue teams were called to the crash at just after 3 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2017, where a Honda sedan crashed into telephone sustain “catastrophic damage,” according to Methuen Police.

The driver – Jacleyn Leclerc of Peabody, MA – sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Lawrence General Hospital. Another passenger, however, perished in the crash.

Jennifer Montanez, 23, of Waterbury, CT, who was a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle, was transported to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 29-year-old front seat passenger was airlifted to Mass. General Hospital, according to police, with “critical, life threatening injuries, according to police. Also, a 29-year-old relative of Montanez’s who lived in Methuen was transported to Lawrence General with non-life threatening injuries.

Mass. State Police are analyzing the crash scene. Methuen Police issued a press statement noting that the “facts and circumstances of the crash are under investigation” but added that “alcohol does appear to be a factor.”

About an hour ago, police warned that Milk Street was closed between Valley Street and Magna Road, and residents in the area should expect to be detoured through the morning hours to allow National Grid and Verizon crews to replace the pole and make repairs. Sporadic outages may also occur, police noted.
