Cormier Joins Salem Police Department

SALEM, NH — Salem police have a new officer who joined the force this week. Lauren Cormier, who has worked at security appointments in Massachusetts, was sworn in at headquarters Monday. Pending acceptance, she is slated to start at the New Hampshire Police Academy in May.

The program, according to Deputy Police Chief Joel Dolan, is a 16-week course.

"Officer Cormier has illustrated a dedication to law enforcement and has training and experience that will benefit her greatly in her new role here in Salem," he said. "We're thrilled to welcome her to the department."

Cormier holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice investigation from Salem State University. She has also been trained in firearms safety, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator, defensive tactics, management of aggressive behavior, and as a first responder, Dolan said. She also recently worked in security at the Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett, Massachusetts, and North Shore Medical Center, in Salem, MA.
