Girl Scout Essayist Shines at ToGetHerThere Luncheon

Daisy Girl Scout Jenna Bailey, who hopes to be an astronaut when she grows up, was one of four girls to win the essay contest this year.

PELHAM, NH - With the confidence that comes from her time in Girl Scouts, Daisy Girl Scout Jenna Bailey hopes to be an astronaut when she grows up.

Jenna, 7, was one of four winning Girl Scout essayists recognized at Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains’ Fourth Annual ToGetHerThere luncheon at the Grappone Center in Concord on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, according to a press statement.

Her essay, “How Girl Scouts has made me the girl I am today,” was highlighted in a video presentation at the luncheon, attended by nearly 200 business and community leaders. Jenna talked about the many friends she’s made in her Pelham troop. “Girl Scouts brought friendship to me because the girls in my troop are good friends to me,” she said.

“Having Girl Scouts at this event gives our supporters an opportunity to see what Girl Scouting does for girls and the community,” says Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains CEO Patricia Mellor. “These young women truly represent the next generation of leaders,” she added.

Amanda Grappone-Osmer, fourth-generation owner of Grappone Automotive, was celebrated as the event’s keynote speaker. She was also honored for inspiring tomorrow’s leaders.

The annual ToGetHerThere luncheon highlighted Girl Scouts’ efforts to transform the leadership landscape for girls, while raising critical funds needed to help girls reach their fullest potential. The event also celebrated the many achievements of Girl Scouts, who are making a difference in their communities and developing valuable life skills that will prepare them to become tomorrow’s leaders.
