My name is Kyle and I am a life-long resident of Salem, and more recently an avid bird-watcher and photographer. The purpose of this blog is to share sightings, stories and photography of the many species of birds you can find in Salem.
I go birding all over the state and for a while I didn't think Salem had a lot to offer when it came to birds. But over the last year or two I've visited local spots and have found more than I could have imagined.
There truly is a lot to see here. From your every day Northern Cardinal to the elusive American Bittern - my girlfriend Amanda and I have logged more than 150 species in Salem alone and getting some awesome photos along the way. Some photos can be found on my Flickr page here. As well as Amanda's Flickr page.
I hope to include a digest of birds seen on a weekly or monthly basis. If you have sightings of your own to share, please let me know!
Stay tuned and enjoy,
Kyle
