Merrimack Man Arrested After Attempted Burglary In Salem Sunday
Eric Mann was arrested on South Policy Street by cops who accused him of entering a home by smashing a door while possessing burglary tools.

SALEM, NH — A man from Merrimack was arrested in Salem Sunday after an early afternoon burglary, police said. Officers were sent to a home on South Policy Street at just before 1:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner was home at the time, according to Deputy Chief Joe Dolan, but fled after a man smashed a glass back door.
Dolan said officers set up a perimeter around the residence, contacted the suspect, later identified as Eric Mann, 32, of Merrimack, who was taken into custody without any problems.
"Thankfully, we were called early to this attempted burglary in progress and were able to put a stop to this situation before anyone was injured or more significant damage was done," Dolan said. "Well done to the officers who responded swiftly and effectively to this call, and who took this suspect into custody without incident."

Mann, who had an outstanding warrant out of Merrimack District Court, was charged with burglary, a felony, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and possession of burglary tools. He was held in the Rockingham County Jail on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
Mann is no stranger to police. In October 2018, he was arrested in Merrimack on criminal trespassing and resisting charges after a break-in incident at a home on Grouse Lane. At the time, police accused him of being dressed up as a woman, in a wig, with devil horns, and in fishnets, before running away from the area. Back in June, he was arrested on burglary, breach of bail, and loitering-prowling charge in Bedford, according to a report on Patch.
