Man Accused Of Using Another’s ID To Try And Buy Guns: Salem Cop Log

Plus: Mass. residents arrested on willful concealment charges; Salem man faces DUI charge after crash; Derry man charged with assault.

SALEM, NH — Edward John Higginbottom, 56, of Central Street in Salem, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2025, on driving under the influence and DUI-third offense charges. He was arrested after police and firefighters were sent to Central Street for a report of a man “slumped over the wheel” of a Volvo, which was “sideways against the house,” according to a police report. Higginbottom was arrested, bailed, and brought to the Rockingham County Jail for protective custody.

Michael Joseph Meehan, 28, of Fourth Street in Amesbury, Massachusetts, was arrested on a bench warrant at 4:07 p.m. on Feb. 4 as well as willful concealment and false report to law enforcement charges. Police were sent to Vape Vibes on Broadway for a report of a theft incident. One employee made the call to police while the other attempted to stop the suspect, according to a police report. Meehan was taken to county after the arrest.

Christalee Quezada, 34, of Newton Street in Lawrence, MA, was arrested on a willful concealment charge at 4:09 p.m. on Jan. 26. Police were sent to Macy’s at the Mall at Rockingham Park for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Another woman who was Hispanic and wearing a baseball cap reportedly “took off on foot,” police said in a report. Quezada was released on personal recognizance.

Michael A. Chiarello, 43, of Heath Street in Somerville, MA, was arrested at 10:22 p.m. on Jan. 25 on simple assault and false imprisonment charges. An officer was out with a man outside 7-Eleven on Main Street. He was charged and taken to the county jail.

Jasmine L. Harris, 30, of Hamilton Hill Road in Townsend, MA, received a summons at 8:33 p.m. on Jan. 25 on a driving after revocation or suspension charge after a motor vehicle stop at the New Hampshire Liquor and Wine Outlet on Cluff Crossing Road.

Hector Alex Jimenez Veliz, 27, of Cross Street in Malden, MA, was arrested at 7 a.m. on Jan. 25 on a domestic violence-simple assault charge. Police were sent to the Red Roof Inn on Red Roof Lane in Salem for a report of a man assaulting a woman and her sister. The caller did not speak English. The man reportedly took off from the scene. Later, he was arrested, refused the services of a bail commission, and taken to county.

Manuel De Jesus, 31, of Ashwood Avenue in Salem, at 1:18 a.m. on Jan. 25 on a driving under the influence charge. A caller on Lawrence Road reported a vehicle struck their mailbox. An officer checked the scene and reported a damaged pole. One man was arrested and then, released on personal recognizance.

Justin M. Pires, 35, of Branch Street in Lowell, MA, received a summons at 12:03 a.m. on Jan. 25 on operating without a valid license and reckless operation charges. A caller reported a possible impaired driver at the intersection of Rockingham Park Boulevard and South Broadway. The vehicle later pulled into the 7-Eleven on Cluff Crossing. Another report police received was that the vehicle was “traveling the wrong way on the boulevard.” A field sobriety test was given and the officer reported it was negative.

Tre Allen Leggett, 24, of Birch Hill Road in New Durham, was arrested at 6:06 p.m. on Jan. 23 on theft by deception-$1,501-plus and credit card fraud-$1,501-plus or two priors charges, both felonies. Police were sent to Next Level Firearms on Ermer Road after a report of a man attempting to use someone else’s identity to purchase firearms, a report said. Leggett was arrested and released on personal recognizance.

Abner Garcia, 26, of Forest Ridge Road in Derry, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. on Jan. 23 on simple assault and breach of bail charge. He was arrested on a Salem warrant and released on personal recognizance.
