New Ice Cream Shop Opens in Salem
Jay Gee's Ice Cream opens new location on South Broadway.
For years, Jay Gee's Homemade Ice Cream has been a hit with families in Methuen, Mass.
Now, the family owned and run business has opened a second location at 327 South Broadway in Salem. A soft opening was held on July 13, and a grand opening is planned for early August.
The Jay Gee's on Route 110 in Methuen was founded 30 years ago by brothers Rich, Rob, Jake and Dan Giuffrida, and also includes go carts, mini golf and lots of other fun distractions.

The Salem shop is focused solely on the ice cream. There are almost 70 flavors in all, when you include frozen yogurt and Italian ice. The Salem store has seven serving windows, and a walk-up counter to order and pick up cakes.
One new treat Jay Gee's has launched in conjunction with the new Salem store is the Mount Washington Sundae, which consists of nine scoops of ice cream with just about every topping you can think of.

Rob Giuffrida said he and his brothers had been planning to open a couple of new stores, and many of their customers at the Methuen store are from New Hampshire.
"Salem's always been on our minds," he said. "We've had a lot of customers asking about New Hampshire."
Jay Gee's will share a building with a franchise called Jake's Wayback Burgers, which is expected to open sometime next week.
