NH Man Dies In I-93 Motorcycle Crash

​NHSP: A crash on Saturday took the life of Roger Marchand, of Salem and Northwood, on I-93 North near Exit 1 in Salem.

SALEM, NH — A New Hampshire man perished in a motorcycle crash on Saturday after a collision on I-93, according to state police. Roger Marchand, 57, of Salem and Northwood, was pronounced deceased at the scene after New Hampshire State Police were called to a crash at 4:30 p.m. on May 27, 2017. The crash was reported on I-93 North at the Exit 1 off-ramp in Salem. Marchand reportedly lost control of his 2003 Harley-Davidson and struck a guardrail.

“The I-93 North Exit 1 off-ramp was reduced from two lanes to one lane for approximately two and a half hours while the crash scene was investigated,” according to Lt. N.A. Noyes of the NHSP. “The I-93 South exit one off-ramp was also closed for approximately three hours while the crash scene was investigated.”

A helmet was located at the scene but it is not known whether or not Marchand was wearing it prior to the collision, Noyes reported. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Salem Police Department, Salem Fire Department and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

Marchand, according to information online, including his obituary, was a general contractor and loved working on old cars.
