According to investigators, state troopers and Salem Police officers were called to the Salem DMV around 1 p.m. for a report of a man with fraudulent documents attempting to obtain a license. The man reportedly was identifying himself as “Roberto Velez De Jesus,” of Atkinson. With the help of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, officers were able to ultimately identify De Jesus as Tejeda, police allege.

“Furthermore, it was discovered that Tejeda was a citizen of the Dominican Republic, who had illegally entered the United States,” according to Sgt. Andrew Player of the NHSP.

This is the second time in a week that someone allegedly was in Salem attempting to obtain a New Hampshire license illegally. Onix Abreau of Lawrence, MA, another illegal immigrant from the Caribbean, was arrested on June 15, for the same crime, according to troopers.

New Hampshire State Police are asking anyone with information about this case – or other cases – involving illegal immigrants obtaining fraudulent documents to contact Trooper James O’Leary at 603-223-8778.
