SALEM, NH — A number of friends and family members from Salem witnessed the shooting and tragic shooting incident in Las Vegas, NV, that took the lives of nearly 60 and injured more than 500, according to a report in the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune. Alex Stewart, 24, of Salem, reported to the newspaper that he was in lockdown this morning on the 33rd of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino – the floor above where Stephen Paddock, 64, shot at thousands of people during the evening of Oct. 1, 2017, the largest mass shooting in American history. He reported hearing gunshots and looking down at the concertgoers from his hotel window.

About 15 friends and family were in the area and accounted for, according to the report.
