Salem Man Arrested After Stabbing
Juan Crawford was charged with second-degree assault.

A local man is facing a second-degree assault charge after allegedly stabbing another man at the Oakridge Apartments during a fight earlier this month.
Juan Crawford, 34, of Salem, was arrested on Oct. 3, on the charge and held on $15,000 cash bail.
According to police, officers were sent to the apartments at around 10:20 p.m. for a report of a fight. They were able to locate a man “bleeding from a stab wound in the upper rib cage under the arm.” Salem Fire and Rescue teams were called to assist and later, transported the victim to Lawrence General Hospital.

Witnesses alleged that Crawford and the victim were fighting when Crawford “pulled out a folding razor type knife and stabbed the victim with it.” Crawford, after returning to the scene, reportedly had a cut on his hand and was intoxicated.
“Police believe he initially fled the scene and got rid of the knife before returning,” according to Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten. “The 29 YOA male victim received 6 staples to the wound and treatment for other minor injuries.”
