Salem Man Faces 5 Felony Charges After Crash That Injured Child
Police have charged Dr. Scott Dowd with first-degree assault, aggravated DWI, and reckless conduct after a crash on Saturday.

SALEM, NH — A Salem man was arrested Tuesday on five felony charges connected to a crash that occurred on Silver Brook Road on Saturday.
Around 2 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a report of a crash involving an SUV and a house where the driver was trapped inside of the vehicle. A 2019 Acura RDX was driving south on the road, left the road, and crashed into a home, and then, multiple bushes and trees, according to police.
Firefighters removed Scott Dowd, 37, of Salem who was trapped inside, through the SUV’s windshield.

EMTs later learned that a girl inside of the home was seriously injured due to the crash. Both Dowd and the girl, 5, were taken to Lawrence General Hospital. The girl was then medflighted to Boston. After surgery, she remains in stable condition, according to Chief Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.
Dowd was arrested on five felony charges: first-degree assault-victim under 13 with serious bodily injury, aggravated driving while intoxicated with serious bodily injury, and three counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon. He will be arraigned in Rockingham County Superior Court at a later date.

Dowd was employed as a doctor for Orthopaedics Northeast P.C., with locations in Salem as well as Andover and Haverhill, Massachusetts. It appeared, at post time, that his information was scrubbed company's website.
