Salem Motorcyclist Loses His Life After Crash
Salem Police: Leo Martin, 48, was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol and speed appear to be factors but the crash is still under investigation.

SALEM, NH — A local man lost his life last night after a motorcycle crash on Shadow Lake Road, according to Salem Police. Leo Martin, 48, was killed at around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2016, after reportedly losing control of his Harley-Davidson and crashing.
“Upon arrival officers located the accident and were informed the operator was pronounced deceased on scene,” according to Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.
The preliminary investigation shows that Martin was traveling west when he lost control of the bike, slid for about 200 feet, and struck a parked vehicle, according to Dolan.

“The collision with the vehicle caused both the motorcycle and the operator to become airborne where they came to a rest off of the roadway,” he noted. “Martin was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. At this stage of the investigation, it does appear alcohol and speed are contributing factors.”
Dolan stated that the crash was still being investigated and police are asking witnesses or anyone with any information about the incident to call police at 603-893-1911.
